Jennifer’s day begins at 4 a.m. before the sun rises. She prepares the materials needed for her bakery business in Siquijor, an island she now calls home. Originally from Bicol, Jennifer moved to Siquijor with her husband to pursue a more successful life.

Jennifer’s entrepreneurial journey began with a vegetable business, which later evolved into a bakery. She understands the challenges of accessing financial services, especially for those in need. That’s where Project Dungganon came in.

In need of financial assistance to open a bakery, she sought the organization’s help and started a business that would significantly impact her life and those around her.

Jennifer’s bakery business has experienced its share of ups and downs in its more than two years of operation. Like other business owners, she admits that there are times when the profit is not substantial.

However, despite the challenges, Jennifer perseveres through life as a mother of two. She believes that success is not solely defined by financial gains but also by the positive impact she can make on her community.

“When people say my bakery products are delicious, it motivates me to continue,” an emotional Jennifer said.

Even when she felt so close to giving up because the business was not doing well, she was physically and mentally exhausted and did not receive support from people she thought would believe in her. Jennifer never gave up.

She never gave up, even after her silent cries. “If I give up now, how will I succeed? I will have wasted all our efforts if I give up now.”

She believes that life comes in seasons and that her season is approaching soon—business expansion, more people she can help provide for their families, and a happy life.

With the support of Dungganon and her community, she continues to thrive and her employees like family and loving what she does make a difference in the lives of those around her.
