1988
NWTF Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia del Castillo, was made part of Negros Occidental’s post-Marcos government under Governor Daniel Lacson to spearhead their women-centered initiatives.
She was then appointed to the pioneer task force composed of representatives from several regions in the Philippines, created under the advisement of President Corazon Aquino, to study the Grameen Credit Methodology with Professor Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh.

1989
NWTF Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia del Castillo, was appointed President of the Philippine Network of Grameen Bank Replicators (PHILNET) and Executive Trustee of the Charter of the Asia-Pacific for Helping the Hardcore Poor (CASHPOR Philippines). Capacity-building training and workshops were conducted for network members including Personal Effectiveness, Cost Effective Interest Rate, Measuring Impact (AIMS Impact Assessment Tool), Internal Control and Fraud Detection, and Cost Effective Targeting.
The first four Project Dungganon branches, operating the Grameen methodology, open their doors: Calatrava, Manapla, Himamaylan and Sipalay

As the COVID-19 pandemic brought unprecedented disruption, NWTF stood firm in its mission to serve poor women, their families, and most especially the employees by retaining all employees and providing them with all the support they needed.
Supported over 500,000 clients with loans across 194 branches, sustaining a ₱3.6 billion loan portfolio despite lockdowns and disasters.
Deployed ₱19 million in relief operations to communities hit by the Taal eruption and multiple typhoons.
Accelerated digital transformation — launched webinars, e-money rollouts, and virtual events to sustain client services and staff morale.
Introduced telemedicine and psychosocial support programs for clients and employees.
The “Dungganon Spirit” unified staff and clients in adapting to the “new normal,” proving NWTF’s strength in crisis.

In the second year of the pandemic, NWTF focused on rebuilding businesses, lives, nurturing well-being, and deepening social impact.
Continued telemedicine and health programs, with over 490,000 clients benefiting from care and education initiatives.
Partnered with the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental to aid micro-entrepreneurs’ rehabilitation.
Launched the 37,000 Punong Handog para sa Inang Kalikasan Project, promoting sustainability and environmental care across communities.

Emerging stronger from the pandemic, NWTF entered a new phase of growth, expansion, and digital transformation.
Expanded to 222 branches, serving 522,336 active clients with a ₱5.14 billion loan portfolio — surpassing pre-pandemic levels.
Delivered over 606,000 wellness services through medical missions and launched the first Hybrid Business Summit, engaging more than 1,100 clients nationwide.
Four Project Dungganon Entrepreneurs — Phoebe Borce, Ma. Sol Manlabe, Lalyn Reporas, and Melanie Valenzuela were among the 20 national winners of the first Digital Financial Inclusion Awards (DFIA) of the Citi Foundation, Microfinance Council of the Philippines, Inc., and the Banko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP)
