NWTF Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia del Castillo, was made part of Negros Occidental’s post-Marcos government under Governor Daniel Lacson to spearhead their women-centered initiatives.

She was then appointed to the pioneer task force composed of representatives from several regions in the Philippines, created under the advisement of President Corazon Aquino, to study the Grameen Credit Methodology with Professor Muhammad Yunus in Bangladesh.

NWTF Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia del Castillo, was appointed President of the Philippine Network of Grameen Bank Replicators (PHILNET) and Executive Trustee of the Charter of the Asia-Pacific for Helping the Hardcore Poor (CASHPOR Philippines). Capacity-building training and workshops were conducted for network members including Personal Effectiveness, Cost Effective Interest Rate, Measuring Impact (AIMS Impact Assessment Tool), Internal Control and Fraud Detection, and Cost Effective Targeting.

The first four Project Dungganon branches, operating the Grameen methodology, open their doors: Calatrava, Manapla, Himamaylan and Sipalay

Professor Sukor Kasim, from Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia, becomes a consultant for the organization. Grameen Exposure Dialogue was held in the Philippines

NWTF receives direct assistance from Grameen Bank

NWTF receives a substantial grant from CGAP that jumpstarted NWTF’s expansion beginning with Bago Branch

Bago Branch commences operation

NWTF participates in the Microcredit Summit Campaign in New York City, attended by over 1,000 delegates from 107 countries, where Dr. Cecilia del Castillo acts as moderator

Project Dungganon begins serving Kabankalan, San Carlos and Tanjay clients

Project Dungganon celebrates its 10 year anniversary

Dumaguete Branch opens along with the 1st PD branch outside Negros Province in Toledo, Cebu

Dr. Cecilia del Castillo represents NWTF in the Microcredit Summit Campaign held in West Africa’s Ivory Coast as facilitator during the event attended by 600 delegates from 85 countries

Project Kasanag is established to offer individual loans for small and medium enterprises

Strategic support, technical assistance and information is received through the partnership with Women’s World Banking

Accredited as a donee by the Philippine Council for NGO Certification

NWTF Founders are recognized as Insular Life’s Inlife Sheroes, a movement borne out of Insular Life’s collaboration with the International Finance Corporation, gathering women from different industries to inspire other women through stories and real talk about life.

NWTF co-presented the First Social Business Youth Summit in the Philippines, promoting Social Business together with Nobel Peace Laureate, Prof. Muhammad Yunus

Inauguration of the Cecilia D. del Castillo Community Center in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental

Launching of two Dungganon Books: Dungganon (Honorable) – the story of three women in Negros: their hopes, struggles and triumphs in creating a better tomorrow and a coffee-table book also entitled Dungganon (Honorable) which features the Dungganon communities across the Philippines
