INSTITUTIONAL AWARDS AND RECOGNITION

2013

trueliftNWTF was recognized as one of the first “Milestone MFIs” to have undergone Truelift Assessment at the Microcredit Summit Campaign’s Partnerships against Poverty Summit in 2013. ‘A Truelift Achiever is an organization that meets three of the Pro-Poor Principles in the areas of outreach, adapted services and tracking of client progress. To reach the Achiever milestone, an institution undergoes a Truelift Assessment by an approved Truelift evaluator.’ As an Achiever, the organization shares best practices and knowledge in the Poverty-focused Microfinance Community of Practice.
NWTF Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia del Castillo, is awarded the Leading Women in the Public Sector during the Women in Leadership Forum held in Kuala Lumpur on March 29, 2013. The Award is presented in recognition of the efforts and initiatives of a female leader in the public sector that promote development.

2012

The Eduardo Aboitiz Award for Outstanding Institution is bestowed upon organizations that build dedicated partnerships with other groups to create comprehensive and responsible development. NWTF received the award during the 5th Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (RAFI) Triennial Awards, which ‘recognizes philanthropic, humanitarian and holistic efforts of individuals and institutions in enhancing the quality of life of various groups and communities’.

2011

MIX is a non-profit organization that promotes responsible financial services for underserved communities through data analytics and market insight. NWTF was given a Gold Award for meeting a range of requirements that prove our commitment to transparent social performance monitoring, management and reporting.
KIVA evaluates field partners based on Social Performance and NWTF has garnered the following KIVA Social Performances Badges: Anti-Poverty Focus, Family and Community Empowerment, Entrepreneurial Support, Facilitation of Savings, and Innovation.

2007

NWTF Executive Director, Dr. Cecilia del Castillo, was presented with the GO NEGOSYO Most Inspiring Entrepreneur Award. GO NEGOSYO is ‘the advocacy of the Philippine Center for Entrepreneurship (PCE), a non-stock, non-profit organization that champions entrepreneurship for change and a solution to poverty in the Philippines.

2006

NWTF was recognized for our commitment to uplifting the lives of the populace through community development programs. Bago is a city in Negros Occidental where NWTF has operated since 1997.
During the 25th anniversary celebration of NLSF, now the National Livelihood Development Corporation – an organization that pursues a package of livelihood and enterprise development programs and interventions to hasten socio-economic growth in the countryside especially in the hard-to-reach agrarian reform communities (ARC) – presented NWTF with a plaque of recognition for our vital contribution to the government’s poverty alleviation strategy by being an NLSF Development Partner in providing microfinance services in the agrarian reform communities.

2005

On August 31, 2005, the National Anti-Poverty Commission, which serves as the coordinating and advisory body for the implementation of the Philippine Social Reform and Poverty Alleviation Act of 1997, and the Provincial Government of Cebu cited NWTF as an Outstanding Microfinance Institution.

2003

NWTF was recognized for having successfully extended microfinance services to 45,783 marginalized clients in Negros Oriental & Occidental, Cebu, and Palawan. The People’s Credit and Finance Corporation is a government agency delivering microfinance services through short, medium and long term investment loans to accredited MFI’s, a cornerstone of the Philippine government’s poverty alleviation program.
